Caring for Your Jewelry

Small habits that keep every piece looking the way it did the day it arrived.

A few minutes of care, year after year.

Everyday Care

  • Put jewelry on last — after perfume, lotion, and hairspray.
  • Remove before swimming, showering, or sleeping.
  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, chlorine, and cleaning products.

Why Your Jewelry Is Unique to You

Everyone's skin is a little different — the oils, the pH, the way it interacts with metal — and that means the same piece can wear a little differently from person to person. We're not able to guarantee exactly how a piece will respond to your individual skin, so if you know you're sensitive to certain metals, it's worth taking a little extra care, and removing a piece at the first sign of irritation.

This isn't us passing the buck — it's simply the nature of handmade jewelry, and we'd always rather be upfront with you than make a promise we can't keep.

About the Finish

Each piece is finished with 24K gold plating — a process that gives that warm, rich color, but one that will naturally soften with everyday wear over time. Perfume, lotion, water, and the natural oils on your skin can all speed that along, which is part of why we recommend putting jewelry on last and taking it off before water touches your skin.

A little patina is part of the character of a well-loved piece. But if you'd like to keep that just-unboxed shine for as long as possible, the habits on this page will help.

Storage

Store each piece separately to prevent scratching — the pouch or box it arrived in works well.

Keep jewelry somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Cleaning

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. For a deeper clean, use a cloth lightly dampened with water — please avoid jewelry cleaning solutions, ultrasonic cleaners, and harsh polishes, as these can strip the plating and wear down finishes faster than everyday wear alone.

Treated gently, a piece like this is built to outlast the trend it was bought for — and if you ever have a question about caring for it, just ask.
